Check point: Day #80
Red light
Whenever I was at the front line during red light traffic, I felt deep satisfaction leaving behind other cars like 300-400 meters by zooming ahead! On Tuesday, as I was driving back after work (not yet 5pm, but then I arrived at the office before 7am) I stopped on the right lane at the traffic light with a junction going to the left. There was a Viva on the left lane. My eyes was on the traffic light on my RHS of the road for those coming out from the T-junction. I admitted I wasn't paying enough attention when the light turn green for our side, thus the Viva marched ahead of me - BANG!!!! The last car coming out of the junction chasing after the yellow light clipped the front corner of the Viva. Ouch...I am so thankful it wasn't me going fast as always when the light turn green. It could have been me being hitted! Ok-ok never again...
Missed my Friday noon aerobic sessions!
Since July, when we stopped the sessions due to Ramadhan & then followed by Eid. I was supposed to start it again by mid August, postponed to September and then I remember that I was not supposed to commit myself to it anymore since I want to be able to go anywhere and anytime (on and off campus) for my s*bbatical leave. And the instructor told me the the good news that finally nailed the coffin so to speak, she's pregnant! But actually, she offered to recommend her friend to replace for the time being, but I declined.
It hit me yesterday why am I getting slower and worsen my track record in all my running event lately...no more aerobic sessions which took care of my cardiovascular high-intensity exercise! All I have been doing is the normal 2,3 times weekly hit the gym session with 30-60 minutes on the treadmill, inclusive of the warming up and cooling down, I stretched using the dumbbell for some resistance in movement, used the ball for hip rotation too. That is all to it! No wonder my half-marathon time was not improving.

Day #85
For a few seconds, my moment of weakness indeed, I almost ...I thought of how easy it was to send a message and the cycle will start all over again! So, I cried a bucket of tears again ...much easier nowadays.
Race report for November 16th
I thought it was my personal best so far, less than 2:45! Only to be told (& confirmed by everyone else) that we ran for only 20.1 or something instead of the required 21.1! Blamed the organizer!
The event started at 3:30am for me and S*rah, while Maz's veteran at 4:00am. We reach Qu*ensbay Mall before 2am, to catch the shuttle bus. I woke up, not so fresh at around 1am, but it's ok since I already expected not to be able to sleep thru the night. After all, I picked up S*rah at the airport around 10pm and then Maz came before 11pm.
There was no hills, except 1 incline immediately up the span of the new bridge and upon returning. Two lanes, crowded. Especially at the u-turn where it became two-way traffic - horrible enough for HM but worst for 10km!
5 years of service
Nothing exemplary to share. Next door colleague had his promotion as early as in August this year after 5 years service. Then another colleague last month (but she has had like 8 years of service). Tomorrow is the start of my 'study leave' but I'm not going anywhere.. I'll have other opportunity in the coming 21 years of service insyaAllah.
I asked a person to be my 2nd guarantor, she said she already be one for a colleague from another school. The thing is i was the guarantor for two of my senior colleagues at the same time. All in, i was the guarantor for a total of 5 of them. The thing is, it has to be one under 40 yo! Thus, I may need to tuck in my tail between my legs and ask my next door colleague nicely...
Another person was promoted to the highest position as an academic (from my point of view). I remember my disappointments with her. I wonder if she remembers at all ...but I do!

Travelogue October
Prologue: Today is actually 5th of November already. I got my electricity bill yesterday, an insult to my austerity measure, an unacceptable RM22.02! After all, I already calculated, I was away for about 12 whole days in October. I have an almost empty fridge (& pantry too), no AC but I did use the vacuum last sunday for my one miserable carpet!
First, going back to my hometown for E*dul Adha. I already planned to drive south but at the last minutes, my brother told me to book a flight & he'll pick me up. I choosed AA so that I touched down in kl*a2 instead of S*bang.
Totally forgot that I had many things to bring home: ordered cookies x5 by my sister, maruku x5 (but I sold 2 & kept at home 1), jeruk & only a change of attire for Eid morning - not even telekung.
Return flight delayed. Mad at AA. Drive to e-port on Saturday morning for my 6:30 flight, left my car at the carpack & came back late on Sunday night, collected my car again (paid RM48 for 2 days parking) and reach home at midnite.
Second, travelled to Subang for BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon. I ran 21km category again with Maz. Our 4th actually. I threw out after the finishing line. Mabuk air or too much water, according to my bro who wanted to video-ed me towards the finishing line, came prepared with a phone call (another 2km to go!) but alas, he waited at the wrong side of the road, for the 10km! Sheesshhh
Why I would never ran alone? Maz helped to rub my back, with medicated oil ...horrible experience indeed puking in front of many people! From my peripheral view (looking down while holding on to the railing by the roadside), I saw people dispersing away from me! Like I was going to burst with horrible sickness. maz picked me up on Saturday noon for our 12:30 flight & came back late on Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm (in time for the AGM of my building), Maz's daughter picked us up again and I reach home before 3pm.
Third, travelled to Medan for a conference. Included package tour to Danau Toba. What I remember most, the diarrhea and lots of wind in my bloated tummy. And eventually I succumb to fever & lots of phlegm - euwwww. But still no MC. Completed the course of antibiotic and all the other medicines. Scheduled flight originally was on Wednesday, 15th. Received notification of delayed to 16th. Too lazy to bother with going to KL & then only Medan if we were to maintain the original date. K.Ct picked me during her way to e-port. Came back on Sunday 8:30pm, hitched a ride back home again with K.Ct.
Forth, hopefully the last one for this month - my secondary school friend's wedding which was called off but after I booked my tickets. It will be a day trip, 12 hours in fact. On last Sunday of October, I drove to e-port for my 9:30am flight. Came back at 10:30pm & drove home (paid RM12 for parking).
I totally forgot to count in my workshop held at the 'nearby' beach (still on the island), 4D/3N of working hard till late evening but I enjoyed the morning walks/jog along the roadside & beach. Waiting for sunsets too.
Epilogue:
Day 71! I made it this far...4 days extra from last count. May I made it really to Dec 5th insyaAllah. I pray that we never meet again, at least until after I'm recover fully.
Oh, I'm running of gas too, for cooking - aiyahhh....

Mengapa...
Anak punai anak merbah,
Terbang turun buat sarang,
Anak sungai pun berubah,
Ini pula hati orang.....mengapa dikenang.
Asal kapas jadi benang,
Dari benang dibuat baju,
Barang lepas jangan kenang,
Sudah jadi orang baru.....mengapa dirindu.
Kasih yang dulu tinggal dalam mimpi,
Kasih yang baru simpan dihati,
Kasih yang dulu tinggal dalam mimpi,
Kasih yang baru simpan dihati.
Selat teduh lautan tenang,
Banyak labuh perahu acheh,
Jangan kesal jangan kenang,
Kalau hati rasa pedih.....mengapa bersedih.
Kalau pinang masih muda,
Rasanya kelat sudahlah pasti,
Kalau hilang kasih lama,
Cari lain untuk ganti.....mengapa dinanti.
Patahkan tumbuh hilang berganti,
Lukakan sembuh kalau diubati,
Patahkan tumbuh hilang berganti,
Lukakan sembuh kalau diubati.
Sayang mengapa dirindu....

P/s: Why I love this song? Because I came across R*zalman's *yes, the designer* Insta on which he planned a wedding with the theme: #pramleethewedding - ala bangsawan opening (the prelude of this particular song) for the dais & flatscreen for the high table - just love it!
Stupido #2
Now, I have to join the rest of the humanity bandwagon by waking up late on Sunday mornings just because the gym opens at 9 am! I would prefer to exercise very early, as early as 7 or 8 am, so that I have ample time to cool down and go back to sleep during midday *sigh*...what a bliss!

Luncheon Party Hostess II
1. The menu (theme - simple but hot dishes!):
a) Main course: white rice with gulai ayam masak lemak cili padi, spaghetti bolognese, daging dendeng berlado, stir-fry of french beans with squids. Don't forget, my sambal hitam Pahang!
b) Desserts: bubur pulut hitam (a repeat since I simply have too many frozen durians!), mixed fruits trifle, salad buah-buahan tempatan (dragon fruit, seedless guava & papaya with a drizzle of lemon juice)
c) Drinks: Air sirap + Sunquick (no time to add in the biji selasih)
2. Time
It was a Monday luncheon! Since I prepared most items (dendeng, trifle, cut the fruits into cubes tc.) on the night before, I just need to cook the bubur pulut hitam, rice and gulai ayam in the morning before I went to work.
Came back early with full car-load of 'support staff' hahaha... kak Z* helped to cut the French beans, k.J*a brought along ketupat palas & rendang daging, Az*mah mixed the drinks with H*jar.
Everyone else came almost in droves. Perfecto!
Since not too much time..by 2pm, kak F already urged the 1st car to go back since nobody in the office.
3. Invitees
Again 30 in the email list - calendar invite. Some responded since they couldn't make it.
I accidently left behind C*rmen. So sorry!
I also included my running buddies, only G*e & M*z could make it, since S*z was still in Sabah for a run. I gave them the option to come later after office hour, but they choosed to come during lunch time. So, they had to squeeze in between the full house to find a seat - on the floor.
Those who came back with me to office got to tapau foods! I included W*dzer & Pu*d too.
___
For the guys & everyone else in office, we had a pot luck raya do. I brought pulut kuning, dendeng (again) & sambal hitam! Alas, too many foods this time around, my fave of all is the Laksa Pahang by S*h's wife.
___
So basically, I had covered all except those guys who wanted to visit my place & Sh*nthi & family. Maybe next time insyaAllah...

Stupido!
This incident happened during my last balik kampung trip. I decided to drive home since I took Monday off and thus, 4 days of Malaysia day long weekend holiday.
When I stopped to fill up petrol in the nearby town, I was happy and smiling since in small town, we get the petrol attendant to fill up on our behalf - weeeeeeeeehooooooooo!!!
I just rolled down my LHS window and stated the amount with the card - without even switching off the engine *wrong thing to do #1*. Then the deed was done, smiled & said my thank you - I just drove off. Danggg!! *Damn it!!*
I totally forgotten about the cone in the box in front of me. Of course I saw it when I drove in but when I drove off - from my lowered perspective (seat on maximum high; have to admit, I'm still on the shorter side) of behind the PKE steering, I couldn't see it at all!
That was week before last week. And I got to front & checked it only recently - scratches & lots of them (it could have been worse, isn't it?). It pained me to see it since the car was only about 3 years in my possession & I had the front & back repainted/touch-up late last year - for another stupid moment - major scratch, coming up the ramps inside my building before balik kampung for raya last year!
____
I love taking photos and sharing them with my friends and colleagues. Not just to upload them in Fb, I often took the trouble to email the photos to the respective persons in each photos. Then, I came across Fl*pagram - way too cool to enjoy the photos now with music & tags!
Last Thursday was the office's official photographer (kind of) last day before he retires after 41 *gasp!) long years of service. I like him enough (we worked in projects together) & appreciate all he had done which often gone beyond the call of duty. So, I took photos of the farewell party & immediately send them (photos in video) to everyone in the mailing list before the punch-out at 5:10pm.
Some colleagues replied with thank you. Most of them usually.. but, but there was this particular one: "Why there is no photo of me? ...was it because I'm no longer the boss here?" The second sentence actually came from me. Yes, there is no photo of you because the focus of my camera is the one who is retiring. I took photos of everyone who were with him - the retiring one, in case you forget. To the best of my knowledge, there is no plot or whatsoever to deny you the opportunity to have your photo taken. There are others who took photos of the occasion too. I'm fed-up with your selfish thinking: not everything is about you! And I won't bother to acknowledge your email with a reply!

Resepi Mak: Pulut Kuning & Rendang Ayam Cili Padi
Rinse well (a couple of times at least plus don't forget to selawat) the glutinous rice. Drain. Mixed with turmeric powder. Add in 1,2 pieces of asam keping (gelugor). After some time (to allow the yellow colour from the turmeric to be absorb by the rice), then only soak in water (overnight).
Steam the rice - signage of cooked: puffing steam (asap keluar berkepol2).
Mixed with coconut milk (mixed with bit of salt to taste).
Re-steam. Supposedly make it last longer, until the next day at least.
P/s: To cook the glutinous rice using pot (without steaming or soaking), just rinse, pour in coconut + water enough to barely cover them. Over a slow fire. You get to enjoy the crust/kerak - it's the best part really. My late dad loved this.
____
1. Cut roots of lemongrass into small pieces - blend dry.
2. Blend bird's eye chillies with onions and ginger - with water.
3. Mix 1. & 2. with chicken pieces (2 whole chicken cuts into 16 pieces) + asam keping in the wok on the stove.
4. Once the pieces are well covered & absorbed the ingredients, add coconut milk. Need to constantly stir using to prevent crusting.
5. Wait until the liquid all dry out.
____
Gulai Ayam Masak Lemak Cili Padi: a variation of the above rendang, except you need to wait for the liquid to thicken only. Maybe add some quarter slices of potatoes towards the end.
